Hey Grendel I almost fell off my chair when I opened your response and you were not point folks to a show in late October 1977!! For the record that one also has an LIG for the ages.

Here is a line from a familiar reviewers critique:

LET IT GROW. Hang on, this is where things start to get hairy. Garcia rips it up, throwing in liberal hints of "Spanish Jam" and other fuzz-guitar madness...it all holds together under Bob's impassioned vocals and Donna does not get in the way. If not for 5/1/81 I'd call this the all-time best version. It certainly ranks in the Top 5.

I know, elbow...hard to believe I'm actually picking something other than 10/29/77 for a change!

but thanks for pointing out at least that i'm consistent in my praise of 5/1/81 LIG in that snippet of my review you selected...which also shows the 10/29/77 LIG is nothing to sneeze at.
